However, from a microbiology and infection control perspective, these bags themselves can become a medium for cross-contamination of bacteria and pollutants.   An innovative solution—"water-soluble laundry bags"—is changing this paradigm.   Why can water-soluble laundry bags be placed directly into the washing machine? Water-soluble laundry bags are not ordinary plastic bags. These bags can be loaded directly into industrial washing machines. Under the set hot water temperature (typically 60°C-80°C) and mechanical action, the bag material dissolves rapidly at the beginning of the wash cycle, allowing the enclosed linens to come into direct contact with the wash liquor for effective cleaning. The bag material dissolves completely in the wash water, leaving no solid residues that require sorting or handling.
